Who do we help?
We have three specialist schemes in the Surrey area which offers support and accommodation to young single homeless people. Our schemes are in Leatherhead, Banstead and Egham.
All three schemes support vulnerable young people between 16 and 21 years of age who are experiencing housing need and encourages them to continue to develop and improve their ability to live independently.
About the service
These schemes can support a total of 15 people at any one time and residents stay for up to two years. At the end of this period residents are supported to make the move into independent accommodation in the local area. We provide four to six weeks of resettlement support in order to help this transition.
The schemes consist of three self contained units in a house in Banstead for teenage parents, 7 one bed flats in Leatherhead and a two bedroom flat in Dorking. Finally we have one three bed house in Egham with shared facilities
Each resident is assigned a support worker who they meet with regularly. How often this is will depend on the individual’s needs. This is worked out and agreed at the beginning of the service and regularly reviewed.
Outside of these support visits residents can contact in touch Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm to receive extra advice or support.
We maintain good links with specialist young peoples services in the area such as Social Services, benefits agencies, Rainer, counselling services, Victim Support and domestic abuse services, in order to provide extra, more specialist support.
We work with people to identify their needs and to find ways to achieve their goals. The support can focus on things like housing, health, money and community activities. This is agreed in a Personal Development Plan, which we regularly review with service users.
What next?
The support received at these schemes will not cost you anything as it is funded by the Supporting People Team at the Surrey County Council. schemes operate.
Referrals to this scheme come from Mole Valley District Council, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Runnymede Borough Council.
