Pathways

Who do we help?

Pathways is a specialist scheme in Bexhill which offers support and accommodation to adults with ongoing mental health issues within the Hastings and Rother District Council areas.

The service supports adults between 18 and 65 years old and is aimed at people who are experiencing housing need alongside an ongoing mental health issue. It supports clients who want to develop and improve their ability to live independently as this scheme is aimed at being the final step in the move to independence.

About the service

This scheme can support 12 people at any one time and residents stay for up to two years. At the end of the two years residents are supported to make the move into independent accommodation in the local area and are offered resettlement support for another two years in order to help this transition.

The scheme is close to the town centre in Bexhill and has 12 rooms with shared bathrooms, kitchens and lounge facilities and a large communal garden.

Each resident at Pathways is assigned a support worker who meets with them regularly. Along with this support, the scheme has a staff member present 24 hours a day in case of emergencies during the night.

This service specifically offers support to people who have a recognised mental health issue but that this is well managed by the time someone moves into the scheme.

Part of the support that is offered at the scheme includes the regular completion of a Personal Development Plan based on how the client feels and what areas they would like support with.

The support received at Pathways is paid for by the Supporting People Team at the Hastings and Rother District Council.
