Floating support

Who do we help?

We offer Floating Support services in many areas. Floating Support helps you to develop and improve your ability to live independently in your own home or helps you to find housing if you are homeless.

Generally the services we offer are for people who are 16 and over and either live in the area covered by the service or who are looking to move back to the area.

Often people who benefit from a floating support service will have some issues linked to one of the following categories;

  • Young people
  • Families who need support
  • Teenage parents
  • Physical and / or sensory problems
  • Learning disabilities
  • Drug and / or alcohol problems
  • Previously been imprisoned, at risk of offending or re-offending
  • HIV and AIDS
  • Mental health needs
  • People escaping domestic violence
  • Older people

However, it is important to remember that this is not a complete list and there will be people needing support who do not fit neatly into these groups.

What help do we offer?

Some floating support services are for particular groups of people while others are open to everyone. Our floating support services provide various levels of support, from low to higher levels of need.

Whatever the service, we can support you if;

  • You are having problems finding or keeping somewhere to live in your local community or;
  • You need help to develop or maintain your ability to live as independently as possible in your own home.

We provide a flexible support service based around your particular need for a set period of time. We can help you with things such as your housing, money, health and getting involved with your local community with the aim of fixing any problems and achieving results.

We often support you in your own homes but we can agree to meet somewhere else such as a community centre or in our local offices.

We will support you to complete your own Personal Development Plans based on how you feel and what areas you would like support with.
