Blanchard House is a specialist scheme which offer support and accommodation to older people in the Bromley area.

This service is for adults over the age of 60 with support needs and encourages people to live as independently as possible.

About the scheme

Blanchard House is a long term service and supports a total of 10 people. The scheme consists of 10 self contained flats in a purpose built block and although there is no on site office, supported housing officers visit the site regularly.

Blanchard House enables people to live as independently as possible however extra support or care can be arranged from other agencies if required. If more support is needed referrals can be made by a member of staff.

Residents can contact in touch Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm to receive extra advice or support. Outside these times Invicta offers a lifeline service providing 24 emergency support.

We also maintain good links with specialist services in the area such as Community Nurses, chiropodists, district nurses, occupational therapist’s, Older People’s Community Assessment Team and the Community Mental Health Service in order in order to provide extra, more specialist support.

We work with people to identify their needs and to find ways to achieve their goals. The support can focus on things like housing, health, money and extra care or services that may be needed. This is agreed in an Independence Plan, which we regularly review with service users.

This service is for adults over the age of 60 with support needs and encourages people to live as independently as possible.

Bromley Older Peoples Service is a long term service and supports a total of 51 people in self-contained one bedroom flats in a variety of schemes, some include communal lounges, kitchens and on-site offices and all of which have communal gardens.

Bromley Older Peoples Service is an independent living scheme however extra support or care can be arranged from other agencies if required. If this extra support is needed referrals can be made by the on site staff member.

Residents can contact in touch Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm to receive extra advice or support. Outside these times Invicta offers a lifeline service providing 24 emergency support.

Croydon Older Persons Floating Support Services

Who do we help?

The Croydon Older Persons Floating Support Service is a pilot service which offers support to people living within the London Borough of Croydon including the Selhurst, South Norwood and Upper Norwood areas.

The service is for adults aged over 55 with support needs which may include alcohol dependency, mental health problems or memory problems.

About the service

Our service supports up to 68 people at any one time and lasts for a maximum of 2 years. We operate a waiting list for this service which is run on a priority need basis.

The service is aimed at individuals at risk of being made homeless and who could be experiencing a range of problems accessing or maintaining accommodation in their local community. It also supports people to maintain their ability to live independently.

We operate from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm (with 24 hour out of hours cover via Invicta lifeline system). People who receive support from us meet with their support worker on a regular basis, how often will depend on the individuals needs. This is worked out at the beginning of the service and regularly reviewed.

We work with people to identify their needs and to find ways to achieve their goals. The support can focus on things like housing, health, money and extra care or services that may be needed. This is agreed in an Independence Plan, which we regularly review with service users.

The Croydon Older Peoples Floating Support Service helps people with housing related needs however extra support or care can be arranged through other agencies if required.

We can work with people regardless of what kind of accommodation they live in (for example council accommodation, private rented or housing association).

What next?

If you feel that you would benefit from this service you can apply through local statutory or voluntary agencies, the Citizens Advice Bureau GP Surgeries and we also accept self referrals.  You will not have to pay anything for this service as it is paid for by the local authority in Croydon.

Kendall Lodge, Bromley

The scheme

Kendall Lodge is a lovely scheme made up of 34 purpose built flats (33 one-bed and 1 two-bed). It was opened in 1986 and is owned by Hyde Housing Association.

Located in Bromley, a former market town that has a history going back before WIlliam The Conqueror. Bromley got it’s name form teh Broom plant that grows very easily in the area.

Facilities include a communal lounge/kitchen, a hobby room and a pleasant guest room that is available for overnight visitors. The residents have a social club and hold various activities throughout each month with which new residents are encouraged to participate.

The scheme also has a communal garden which is maintained by Hyde contractors.

There is a non-resident Scheme Officer who works 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Absence is covered by other staff for a 3 hour period per shift, this can be morning or afternoon. Out of hours and public holidays are covered by the emergency pull cord which goes through to a central control.

Local information

There are 7 parking bays at Kendall Lodge so deliveries are not a problem.

Kendall Lodge is close to Bromley Glades shopping centre, places of worship, various bus routes. Train stations are within walking distance and the scheme has paper and milk deliveries.

Bins are emptied on a Tuesday; recycling bins for paper and glass are collected fortnightly on a Monday.

What’s next?

Kendall Lodge is owned by Hyde Housing Association and flats are sold on a leasehold basis for those over 60 and also benefits from a government scheme where buyers pay 70% of the purchase price.
