Sheltered Housing Services

Who do we help?

Our Sheltered Housing offers support and accommodation to older people in the East Sussex and Brighton and Hove areas.

The services are generally available to people over the age of 55 and can be accessed through the local Choice Based Lettings scheme. We aim to help people to maintain their ability to live as independently as possible.

About the schemes

Our Sheltered Housing Schemes generally consist of self contained one or two bedroom flats along with some communal areas such as a lounge, laundry room, computer room and quiet room along with an on site office.

Some people may have their own care package arranged with Social Services in addition to the support that we are able to provide. If this extra support is needed referrals can be made by the on site staff member.

Residents can contact in touch on site office Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm to receive extra advice or support. Outside these times there is a Carelink Community Alarm service which provides 24 emergency support.

We also maintain good links with specialist services in the area such as Community Nurses, chiropodists, district nurses, occupational therapist’s, Older People’s Community Assessment Team, Carelink, Community Mental Health Service and the Substance Misuse Team in order in order to provide extra, more specialist support.

Part of the support that is provided at these schemes includes the regular completion of an Independence Plan based on how the client feels and what areas they would like support with.

What next?

If you receive Housing Benefit or Pension Credit the support received from in touch will not cost you anything as it is paid for by the Supporting People Team at your local Council.
